Robin took the big stage with T.I. at the show, where Taylor also sang "I Knew You Were Trouble" in a pre-taped function. Drake was assumed to be in attendance but reportedly needed to miss the opportunity because of a arrangement scheduling discrepancy. Rihanna looked great in a dark blue suit jacket with matching stripped top underneath.

Fashion for a Cure in Christchurch

I am a bit late in posting this as it has been a couple of weeks now since this event. Looking through the Internet there are not many if any posts related to this important event. Considering that the event was fundraising for finding a cure for breast cancer you think there would be more coverage than this post I am making here.

Anyhow let us begin; the newly constructed cardboard Cathedral was packed with incredibly dressed people with long flowing gowns on the evening of Monday the 11th of November. We were greeted by a nice man in a black suit who gave us each a glass of champagne and a crepe drizzled in golden syrup with a blob of cream on top. The young man guided us each to our seats until the whole room were seated.

The lights were dimmed, the music started and the first model came down the catwalk. There were eight fashion designers showcasing their latest summer collections for the Breast Cancer Research Trust. The fashion designers being: Trelise Cooper, Andrea Moore, Storm, Moochi, Ruby, Liam, Zambesi, Derywn Schmidt and Taylor. Of these I would have to say the best designs that got the most applause from me and the crowd were those from: Deryn Schmidt, Moochie and Trelise Cooper. The other designers clothing I found just a little bit bland and not too impressive.

Design by: Deryn Schmidt.
A black partly see through one piece skirt with black glossy heels.

Design by: Moochie.
A nice dark blue one piece skirt showing impressive curves and brilliant silver heels.

Design by Trelise Cooper.
There are two different pieces here: firstly the flowery marble top, and secondly the one piece skirt with zipper down the front. The addition of the hat and pink heels was also a nice touch. The kind of fashion style you would see at the horse races.

Design by: Trelise Cooper.
Another design from Trelise this piece is not too simple yet not too over the top. A nice style of boutique fashion you might possibly see from Victorian times. I just loved the embroidery skirt it so nice to see the designers paying close attention to the little things. Oh and I almost forgot to say that her heels were very nice and display this year’s summer fashion colors.

After the models had paraded down the catwalk the organizers put on display the items of the auction (however I did not stay for this part as I was quite exhausted from the fashion catwalk). I would have to say the Fashion for a Cure event was a great success for the Breast Cancer Research Trust, raising just over $23,000 in total.

Doris Lessing Passes Away

Doris Lessing, the Nobel prize-winning, free-thinking, world-travelling and often-polarising author of The Golden Notebook and also a large number of additional novels, for example The Grass Is Singing and Memoirs of a Survivor has passed away at the age of 94.

The author of well over 55 works of fiction, opera, nonfiction as well as poetry, died peacefully at her home in London. Her loved ones asked for personal privacy, and the exact cause of loss of life was not instantly clear.

Lessing investigated topics starting from colonial Africa to dystopian Britain, from the mystery of truly being female to the unknown worlds of science fiction.

She won the Nobel Literature prize in 2007 and continues to be best known for The Golden Notebook, wherein heroine Anna Wulf uses four notebooks to bring together the separate parts of her disintegrating existence.

The paperback deals with a variety of previously unmentionable female conditions - menstruation, orgasms as well as frigidity - and also built Lessing an figure for women's liberation.

Published in Britain in 1962, the book would not get to France or Germany for fourteen years because it was regarded as far too inflammatory. Once it was republished in China in 1993, 80,000 copies sold to the market in only a matter of two days.

For a few readers as well as critics, however, the book was an undesirable exposure of female failings.

The complaints of Lessing's work prolonged all the way through her existence. Although she continued to publish at least every other twelve months, she acquired minimal consideration for her later works and additionally was often criticised being didactic as well as impenetrable.

Born Doris May Tayler on October 22, 1919, in Persia (currently Iran) where her good old father was a traditional bank manager, Lessing moved to Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) aged 5 and thus lived there until she was 29.

Strong-willed from the start, she read works by Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling by age 10 and existed by the motto "I will not." Schooled at a Roman Catholic young girls school in Salisbury (currently Harare), she left before completing secondary school.

At 19, she married her first spouse, Frank Wisdom, with who she had a boy in addition to a daughter. She abandoned that spouse and children in her early 20s and then started to be attracted towards the Left Book Club, a group of literary communists and socialists directed by Gottfried Lessing, the man who would turn out to be her second spouse as well as a parent to her third kid.

Nevertheless Lessing became disheartened with the communist movement and in 1949, aged 30, left her second spouse to move to Britain.

Along with her young son, Peter, she packed the manuscript of her very first novel, The Grass is Singing. The paperback, which used the tale of a woman who is stuck in a loveless relationship to convey poverty together with racism in Southern Rhodesia, was released in 1950 to fantastic success in Europe and the United States.

Lessing subsequently embarked on the first of five significantly autobiographical novels - from Martha Quest to The Four-Gated City - works that grew to become her Children of Violence collection.

Her nonfiction work ranged from Going Home in 1957 regarding her come back to Southern Rhodesia to a publication about her pets, Particularly Felines, in 1967.

In the 1950s, Lessing became an honorary active member of a writers' circle referred to as the Angry Young Men who were viewed as injecting a radical new energy into British ethos. Her home in London grew to be a focal point not only for novelists, playwrights as well as critics but in addition for drifters and loners.

Lessing herself always denied being a feminist and claimed she was not conscious of writing anything specifically inflammatory when she produced The Golden Notebook.

Lessing's earlier books decried the dispossession of black colored Africans by white colored colonials and criticised South Africa's apartheid system, prompting the government authorities of Southern Rhodesia and South Africa to bar her in 1956. Later government authorities overturned that order. In June 1995, the exact same calendar year that she received an honorary degree from Harvard University, she went back to South Africa to see her daughter as well as grand kids.

I have decided to include a younger photo of her as glory days are always best remembered when you are young. I will also try and find the Golden Notebook and make a post for people who have not read it yet.

The Velvet Underground - Loaded

Loaded was a commercial effort aimed at radio play, another step away from the Warhol-influenced days. The album's title refers to Atlantic's request that the band produce an album "loaded with hits". Doug Yule said, "On Loaded there was a big push to produce a hit single, there was that mentality, which one of these is a single, how does it sound when we cut it down to 3.5 minutes, so that was a major topic for the group at that point. And I think that the third album to a great extent shows a lot of that in that a lot of those songs were designed as singles and if you listen to them you can hear the derivation, like this is sort of a Phil Spector-ish kind of song, or this is that type of person song."

Reed was critical of the album's final mix. He left the Velvet Underground on August 23, 1970 but Loaded wasn't released until three months later, in November. After its release, Reed discovered that the album had been re-edited and resequenced without his consent.

The Velvet Underground - White Light, White Heat

White Light/White Heat is the second studio album by American rock band The Velvet Underground, released in 1968. It was the band's last with violist and founding member John Cale. In 2003, the album was ranked #293 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

After the disappointing sales of the Velvet Underground's first album, The Velvet Underground & Nico, the band's relationship with Andy Warhol deteriorated. They toured throughout most of 1967. Many of their live performances featured noisy improvisations that would become key elements on White Light/White Heat.[1] The band eventually fired Warhol and parted ways with Nico;[2] and ultimately went on to record their second album with Tom Wilson credited as producer.

The album was recorded in just two days, and with a noticeably different style than The Velvet Underground & Nico. John Cale described White Light/White Heat as "a very rabid record...The first one had some gentility, some beauty. The second one was consciously anti-beauty." Sterling Morrison said, "We were all pulling in the same direction. We may have been dragging each other off a cliff, but we were all definitely going in the same direction. In the White Light/White Heat era, our lives were chaos. That's what's reflected in the record."

The Velvet Underground - Squeeze

The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico

The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut album by American rock band The Velvet Underground and vocal collaborator Nico. It was originally released in March 1967 by Verve Records. Recorded in 1966 during Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitablemultimedia event tour, The Velvet Underground & Nico would gain notoriety for its experimentalist performance sensibilities, as well as the focus on controversial subject matter expressed in many of its songs including drug abuse, prostitution, sadism and masochismand sexual deviancy.

Though a commercial and critical failure upon release, the record has since become one of the most influential and critically acclaimed rock albums in history, appearing at number thirteen on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time[4] as well as being added to the 2006 National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.

The Velvet Underground - VU

The Velvet Underground's, VU was intended to be the band's 4th release, between Velvet Underground (third album) and Loaded, but because MGM records was purging their less profitable acts, the band was released from their contract. The band had previously recorded 14 songs that were possibly intended for their second album on MGM, but instead the tracks were shelved and weren't rediscovered until Verve/MGM was re-releasing their first three albums and the unreleased "lost" tracks were found. These tracks were remixed and cleaned up for release as VU along with some John Cale-era songs. The result is the missing link between Velvet Underground and Loaded which explored the band's evolution to a more pop-rock sound from their art-rock, experimental sound especially on their first two albums. Personally, overall my favourite Velvet Underground record is VU, it's loaded with some truly great songs that might have changed the perception of the band in 1969, as it might have had commercial potential, so it's too bad it took so long for these tracks to become available in their more or less original form.

The Velvet Underground – The Velvet Underground 1969

The Velvet Underground is the third album by American rock group The Velvet Underground. It was their first record to feature Doug Yule, John Cale's replacement. It was recorded in 1968 at TTG Studios in Hollywood, California. The album's sound – consisting largely of ballads and straightforward rock songs – marked a notable shift in style from the group's previous recordings. In 2003, the album was ranked number 314 on Rolling Stone's "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list.

Lou Reed, the group's main songwriter, said of the album: "I really didn’t think we should make another White Light/White Heat. I thought it would be a terrible mistake, and I really believed that. I thought we had to demonstrate the other side of us. Otherwise, we would become this one-dimensional thing, and that had to be avoided at all costs."[1] Maureen Tucker said, "I was pleased with the direction we were going and with the new calmness in the group, and thinking about a good future, hoping people would smarten up and some record company would take us on and do us justice."

What rockstar died today

Lou Reed died today at a home he shared in Long Island, New York at the age of 71. His death occurred following complications from a liver transplant he had earlier this year.

There are simply no words to speak about the sorrow at the death of Lou Reed. He has been on this earth for all of my everyday life and now he is gone. He will continually be pressed to my heart and soul. Thank God for all those, akin to Lou, who shift within their own rules, otherwise envision precisely how featureless the world would be. His musical legacy will survive longer than time itself. In tribute and to keep his music alive I have posted up some Velvet Underground albums.

Please comment below on how Lou Reed affected your life.

Wholesale Boutique Clothing

Wholesale Boutique Clothing

Hi, a friend of mine told me a good website to get boutique clothing at wholesale prices. The name of the website is called Salehoo and its a wholesale directory of suppliers for all sorts of things. If you are looking to create a fashion business or just to get name brand fashion items at wholesale prices, then click here to go check it out. So far I have only had a positive experience with them which is a good thing considering all the websites out there that simply do not provide the service.

Twitter - How to unlock your account

Most of the time, Twitter suspends accounts that are in violations of the Twitter Rules but they’ll also suspend for investigation if the account has been hacked or compromised. Sometimes though, it’ll be a mistake on their part.

My account was locked out just for tweeting my website. Since I knew I was not breaking any Twitter Rules or performing any prohibitive behavior, here’s how I unlocked my account:

1. Filled out support form
Be sure to be courteous when filling out the description of your problem. Even if it was a mistake on Twitter’s part, your support ticket won’t go anywhere especially when it’s riddled with angry expletives or incomprehensible sentences.

2. Submit the form and wait for the reply
I submitted my appeal form and got an automated reply within 24 hours.

**They will send the reply to the email your Twitter account is registered to, so be sure you check that inbox or double-check your mail forwarding settings!**

In the reply, it mentions that if we were suspended for aggressive following behavior, we’d get a separate email. We didn’t, and plus, we’re only following about 5-10 accounts per day.

**To be ultra-safe though, I went into our account Settings, then Apps to remove any Applications that I’m not using anymore. You’d be surprised at how many apps add up!

3. If you didn’t receive a reply, check Status of the ticket
This isn’t too clear on the website, and I only stumbled upon this by accident while searching, but you can keep track of your ticket status via their Zendesk home. If you’re already logged in, you’ll see your ticket in “Check your Existing Requests” tab.

You’ll either see a “Waiting for your reply” or “Ticket being processed” message.

If you received a “Waiting for your reply,” check your inbox immediately as they don’t copy what their response is on this page. If it says your ticket is being processed, it either means they haven’t read it yet, or are still investigating.

4. Reply back to their Response

To speed up the process

5. Wait for their Reply (Again)

It took them another day to respond back to me

I didn’t realize that Twitter support reps had nicknames, so I was skeptical. But when I logged into my account, I did see that the suspension was lifted.

It took 2 hours for the follower and following numbers to return back to normal so there’s no need to re-follow.

It was very frustrating to wait around but at least we know that it was a mistake on their part.

If you haven’t been suspended before, take care to:

- Not follow other people aggressively (It maxes out at 2,000 per day, but just take heed in not spamming the follow button)

- Double-check what apps have access to your account and revoke unnecessary ones

- Have a strong password

Other Twitter members I’ve asked said it took 5 days to get their account back (ours took 2.5 days) so I believe the time varies depending on the severity.

Have you had your Twitter account suspended before? How long did it take to get it back?

I hope this guide was helpful! Remember to not panic and stay calm when responding back to their tickets.
