Fashion for a Cure in Christchurch

I am a bit late in posting this as it has been a couple of weeks now since this event. Looking through the Internet there are not many if any posts related to this important event. Considering that the event was fundraising for finding a cure for breast cancer you think there would be more coverage than this post I am making here.

Anyhow let us begin; the newly constructed cardboard Cathedral was packed with incredibly dressed people with long flowing gowns on the evening of Monday the 11th of November. We were greeted by a nice man in a black suit who gave us each a glass of champagne and a crepe drizzled in golden syrup with a blob of cream on top. The young man guided us each to our seats until the whole room were seated.

The lights were dimmed, the music started and the first model came down the catwalk. There were eight fashion designers showcasing their latest summer collections for the Breast Cancer Research Trust. The fashion designers being: Trelise Cooper, Andrea Moore, Storm, Moochi, Ruby, Liam, Zambesi, Derywn Schmidt and Taylor. Of these I would have to say the best designs that got the most applause from me and the crowd were those from: Deryn Schmidt, Moochie and Trelise Cooper. The other designers clothing I found just a little bit bland and not too impressive.

Design by: Deryn Schmidt.
A black partly see through one piece skirt with black glossy heels.

Design by: Moochie.
A nice dark blue one piece skirt showing impressive curves and brilliant silver heels.

Design by Trelise Cooper.
There are two different pieces here: firstly the flowery marble top, and secondly the one piece skirt with zipper down the front. The addition of the hat and pink heels was also a nice touch. The kind of fashion style you would see at the horse races.

Design by: Trelise Cooper.
Another design from Trelise this piece is not too simple yet not too over the top. A nice style of boutique fashion you might possibly see from Victorian times. I just loved the embroidery skirt it so nice to see the designers paying close attention to the little things. Oh and I almost forgot to say that her heels were very nice and display this year’s summer fashion colors.

After the models had paraded down the catwalk the organizers put on display the items of the auction (however I did not stay for this part as I was quite exhausted from the fashion catwalk). I would have to say the Fashion for a Cure event was a great success for the Breast Cancer Research Trust, raising just over $23,000 in total.
