There was lots of fierce competition but the coveted reward went to Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, who were a component of an assortment of 10 finalists nominated for the prize, that is given to up-and-coming designers. Every candidate presented items from their collections at an event in La on October 23.
"We are truly honored and humbled by the support and recognition from Vogue and the CFDA," Chow said in a press statement.
"To be included in the same company as this talented group of designers is an honor itself," Osborne added.
The design duo beat out stiff competition from finalists including Nonoo's Misha Nonoo, Tim Coppens, Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard of Veronica Beard, Parabellum's Commodore Jason Jones, Tome's Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin, Shimon and Ariel Ovadia of Ovadia & Sons and Todd Snyder.
Furthermore, Marc Alary of Marc Alary Jewelry, and Juan Carlos Obando were named as runners-up at the star-studded ceremony, which noted the 10th anniversary of the event and was attended by luminaries such as Oscar de la Renta, Joseph Altuzarra, Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Rodarte's Mulleavy sisters and Alexander Wang, who earned the prize in 2008.
Chow and also Osborne are receiving a cash reward of $300,000, along with runners-up shall each be granted $100,000. All of these contestants will likewise also be offered valuable mentoring from an industry pioneer.
